An architecture. That's the first word that comes to mind when faced with this ring. Valentine hasn't created an ordinary piece of jewelry—she's built something.
The angular, assertive setting: a flat, wide top with sharp, clean lines that contrasts sharply with the usual softness of jewelry. It's a form that commands attention, that occupies space, that doesn't ask permission.
Across this top runs a line of black diamonds, set like a secret inscription—discreet yet absolute. The black of the stones echoes the black of the oxidation, carefully chosen and controlled, which etches the striations and hammered reliefs of the 925 sterling silver. This is not a patina of time—it is an artist's decision.
The sides bear the marks of the hammer: vibrant horizontal striations, neither regular nor random, like the lines of a Provençal stone landscape seen from above. The inside of the ring, however, is polished, smooth, and luminous—this contrast between the raw exterior and the soft interior is a signature in itself.
Placed on the limestone in the photograph, the ring seems to have sprung from it—as if Valentine had extracted it directly from the garrigue of Carpentras.
Created at the Barrouyer Jewelers, founded in 1858, still owned by the same family, guardians of a savoir-faire passed down through five generations.
