The silver is grooved, melted, worked with a file and then smoothed, a unique work, raw enhanced by the shine of the opal mainly.
Before becoming a jewel, I entirely sculpted it in wax in order to melt it into silver.
I then applied the patina so that my work would have even more relief.
This multicolored opal weighs 16.84 carats and shows reflections of absolutely all colors.
The Welo Opal is hydrophane, the deposits are located in north-west Ethiopia. When immersed in water, it can become translucent to then regain its initial appearance when dry (the drying process should not be accelerated; it can take several days/weeks).
